I know, and it's mentioned in one of my earlier posts, that I had opened the DWG files I was sent a couple months ago, but I can't even select DWG files to open now. I figured maybe it was something wrong with that particular build, so I checked and found 2.0.10 is apparently the stable version now and downloaded that. But that is not the case with LibreCAD, which is a free open-source CAD application for creating industrial and graphic designs. It is a feature-rich DWG editor yet quite easy to use. SolidWorks 1982: Autodesk autoCAD (dxf & dwg file formats) 2002: FreeCAD. No updates apparently available through synaptic package manager or update manager. 1968: Unisurf 1987: Pro-engineer 2011: LibreCAD 1970s: Mouse device 1989. Its a pain in the proverbial as some of the LibreCAD files are showing as LibreDraw which forces me into the 'open with' solution. The windows 10 Pro laptop only has 1 option for. dxf DXFFile Which is associated with LibreCAD. There are some licensing issues that are being worked out. Windows wont accept the change to LibreCAD and stays on LibreDraw. dwg files Yes, it is currently in progress. You can use its free version to edit DWG files for free. Installed Librecad as it was listed as a Linux Mint alternative to allow viewing & converting dwg files, but dwg was not an option when I tried to open a dwg file after install (which went fine otherwise as far as I can tell). It is a professional CAD software that also provides a free edition. Now we're at another point where I want to make some changes. At the time I was using the stable version, I think it, a the time, I was using 2.0.8, but I probably upgraded to 2.0.9 when it came out, so I could have been using that.įrom there on, I was saving in DXF files and was able to export to one version of DXF to send to my architect so he could import my changes. I experimented on several CAD programs with loading them and, in the long run, settled on LibreCAD. The last package I used was NanoCad, being free at the time which converted all my old. dwg files in various CAD software packages. When he sent me the first set of plans, they were in a DWG file. dwg files created in other software packages Over the course of many years I have created a lot of. My architect for our house design is using AutoCAD.
